Awards Day

I am so proud of my boys today! Today was awards day at their school and they both worked hard all year and were able to reap the rewards today. Carter got A honor roll all year and barely missed having the most Accelerated Rearder (AR) points in his class. When they read library books they then take tests on them and get points awarded to them, depending on the difficulty level of the book and how they did on the test. Carter ended up with 67 points for the year. Chad got A honor roll for two 9 weeks and A/B honor roll for one (not sure about this last one, but I think it's A/B). Chad also had the highest number of AR points in his class, with 130.9, and was the only one in his class to get more than 100! I am so proud of him! He also had the highest average in his class for Math and the highest average in his class for Language Arts. His 'fun award' from his teacher was the Skittles award. He got this because he was the pickiest eater in the class and rarely wanted the snacks that were served. Welcome to my world. :) His teacher gave each child a fun award that related to a candy of some sort. It was really neat. Third grade is known as a tough transition year and I am so proud of Chad for doing such a good job and earning great grades. Carter's teacher did not give classroom awards, so I don't know if he would have gotten any highest averages, but I suspicion he might have. He did make the maximum score he could make on the reading portion of the CRCT and he tested into the gifted program, so he has a lot of academic accomplishments to be proud of as well. I'm sorry to brag, but I am proud of them and I wanted to have a written record of these accomplishments for my online journal. Thank you for humoring me. :)
