Thursday's Fun

We went on a great field trip today with our playgroup (Kids at Play). We went to USA Aggregates, otherwise known as Dogwood Quarry, where they mine rocks to make concrete and gravel and such. The kids (we had 19 there, 17 of them boys) watched 2 videos and then we rode a bus into the pit and got to see the huge machines up close. One circled us a few times, so that was pretty cool. Then the highlight of the trip, the kids got to play on the huge sand dunes.

They loved that, while some of the moms cringed from the dirt. LOL After that we took the bus around and parked and watched them do a blast. We waited quite a while to see it and it was kind of anti-climactic, but still pretty cool. After that they fed us lunch - grilled hot dogs, chips, cookies, and drinks. This was all FREE!! It was amazing!!

After all that fun I had a doctor appointment with the ENT. I was recently diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea and my dr. referred me to ENT to try the tonsiletomy route first since my tonsils are pretty huge. Well, the ENT agreed and said he wants to take my tonsils, part of my palette and uvula, and burn the base of my tongue to constrict it some. OUCH! Does NOT sound fun, but...if it works and relieves the apnea, then it is well worth it. My sleep lately is just horrible and I feel terrible during the day. If this doesn't work then I will try the CPAP, but I'd really rather avoid that if I can. So, when is this surgery you ask? Next Thursday. At least for right now. I may change it. I didn't really think it through and forgot that I have a party for my friend that Friday. I'd hate to not be able to eat all the yummies Angel is going to make for it. LOL So I'm going to try to reschedule it for sometime in July. Mom will be here then also, so it would be easier, but I really want to get it done and over with as soon as possible. My sleep is affecting Charles' sleep at this point and he needs all the rest he can get. I am quite anxious over this surgery though. The dr. said I would be in a good bit of pain for 2 weeks. :(
